Divination

This is a very short visual novel, under one hour long.

It is interesting, but I did not feel that compelled by what it tried to do. Four people will come to visit you in order to get a divination in a futuristic world where “Mother” the super big AI who rules the world committed suicide, creating chaos and havoc by doing so. You’ll have to play the divination stones to make a divination and depending on how you align them, the result and the story will change. Since it is very short there are only two endings I believe, so it is more of “what is the right combination to get the canon ending?” game than something really compelling.

The art is very nice. I am not very sure what the author wanted to do with the story. It seemed to be about probability and outcomes, but one could very much only see it as a very depressing look on our future with AI. It came out in 2019, so the discourse around AI was also very different.
