Kpop Demon Hunters
I do know nothing about Kpop. I am not the biggest music listener. When I listen to something, it’s mostly soundtracks, Metal, Rock and Punk. I sometimes do enjoy some Jpop and Visual Key for old times’ sake. So, when I clicked on the Kpop Demon Hunters on Netflix, I didn’t expect anything other than a movie that wasn’t for me, but would keep me occupied for an hour and a half while being sick in bed. Well, I’ve now watched it three times and have listened to the songs a countless number of times on repeat.
The movie is beautifully done and animated. The story is cliché, but well done. The execution does make a lot of difference here. The thing it doesn’t manage to do is hide the fact that the movie was supposed to be longer. So many things were never explored when it seemed that they were supposed to be. So I looked it up afterwards and apparently the movie should have been three hours long, so they cut half of it? Which, honestly, kudos to them for having a final product that still makes sense. I am still very sad that non of the Saja-boys had any lines except the main vilain.
I was surprised to find the songs catchy and to like them. I was especially impressed by Golden which seems very hard to sing with the sudden high pitches (but maybe I’m wrong, I am no singer at all). I’m curious to see that song performed live.
Anyway it was a great time, nothing mind-blowing, but a well-put together movie so that even that basic plot is still enjoyable to watch. Sometimes this is enough. Also, I want the crow and the tiger.
