Strange Jigsaws

I do not know FLEB. I’ve never even heard of FLEB. But Steam knows that I like my puzzle games, so Steam told me, “Look, FLEB did a game, it’s called Strange Jigsaws, and we think you’ll like it”. As I do, indeed, like puzzle games and jigsaws very much, I did, of course, buy the game which is less den 5€. The worst-case scenario, I’m short of fewer than 5 bucks and experienced a meh game for some hours. Which is still growing in my book, I do like new experiences for a few hours, regardless of their quality. But FLEB did create a great game. So much so, that I need him to do more of them.

Strange Jigsaws is not mind-blowing in its puzzle. You will probably be done in around 3 hours or so, depending on how good you are at thinking outside the box. If you’re slow, I guess maybe 4 hours. But most of the puzzle do function on the idea that they are not quite like you would think the first second. The kind of puzzle where you need to put out fire with Tetris-iceblocks, but it does count the fire icon in the explanation field too. There are all kinds of puzzles, from colour puzzles, to captcha, to sound puzzles (actually doable sound puzzle, not like The Witness). It is very artsy in some regard. The kind of “it’s ugly but on purpose ugly and full of elements and stuff” sometimes. It gives it an extra chaotic charm. FLEB will also be in the game on several occasions to talk with you. He seems like a nice guy who loves his daughter dearly. He did a whole set of puzzles based on drawings from his daughter. That’s my favourite part of the game. He totally did win the dad game. That’s the one thing I now know about FLEB.
