An Airport for Aliens currently run by dogs
I do love me some indie games. I especially love weird, short, niche indie games. You can never lose. Worst-case scenario, you got a unique experience that you ended up not liking, but it only cost you a few hours. Middle-scenario, it is interesting and doesn’t overstay its welcome. Best-case scenario, you had a very interesting few hours of something weird.
An Airport for Aliens currently run by dogs does kinda fit in the middle scenario, because it was a bit tedious to play in the end. But the humour was top-notch. Be it the writing, the very bad graphics, the fact that the dogs are all stock images, or that you’re the only human left with your wife and you need to find her on the different airports. It is a very weird experience, and you never want to have airports run by dogs, because they aren’t very efficient doing so.
The gameplay itself is trying to find you way around the different airports on different planets. The dogs will send you on fetch quests, the writing is an alien language so you need to find the right gate at the right time to take your flight. This is also where the game slightly falls apart, because the jokes do get old, but the airports are big, the dogs repeated with the same shops and shopkeeper, and not all airports are connected together. So, sometimes you just need to do your fetch quests to get back to an airport were your already passed by in order to go to where you need to go. If the game is not long in itself, these moments can get a bit boring, failing to put it in the best-case scenario for me. But it was still a heck of a ride and laughs. And of course, you can pet every dog. And yes, there are achievements for petting dogs a lot. Like a lot lot. In a single session.
