They really do. Old Man’s Journey is around 10 years old now, and for some reason they decided to add achievements to it now. So I figured, why not play it again? My first playthrough took me 79 minutes apparently, so, I’ll lose nothing.

My opinion of the game has not changed. Visually great. Gameplay-wise inexistent, so it is one of those game where I feel the word “walking simulator” kindaaaa fits. You’re playing an old man getting a letter and then he begins his journey walking we-don’t-know-where. He will sit down every so often and you see a bit of his past. You know how those stories go, they are tons of them by now.

You can move around the landscape. Each one of them consists of different layers and slopes that you can move around to create a path for the old man to continue his journey on. You can click around and discover some people and such that live in this world. It is cute, beautifully done, but also very empty. The story does not have much to say and what seemed to be a nice idea for some puzzle really doesn’t go anywhere. If they managed to do some really puzzles in here, I think the game could have been great. Now, it will only work for people who are ok with an emotional story of an old man reliving his life in a colourful world because the game has nothing else to give.

The French do like the beautiful visual indie games.
